Cooperativa Vallebelbo
Vallebelbo is a growers' cooperative founded in 1956 by winegrowers from the Belbo valley, now bringing together around 160 member families who farm just over 500 hectares of vineyard in the Langhe hills around Santo Stefano Belbo. The co-op manages the whole chain, from grapes to bottling to sale, and built its reputation on Moscato d'Asti before investing heavily in Barbera from the 1980s onward. The wines are sorted into several ranges: Collezione '56, the top tier of five labels including an Alta Langa metodo classico; Le Filere, an everyday range spanning Barolo, Barbaresco, Roero Arneis and more; sparkling lines under the Vallebelbo and San Maurizio names; Lever du Soleil, a single Moscato d'Asti; and Cesare Pavese, a line named for the celebrated writer born in this same valley. Santo Stefano Belbo sits in hills that became part of a UNESCO World Heritage vineyard landscape in 2014.
