Montaribaldi Palazzina

A Barbaresco DOCG from Neive, aged about 20 months partly in oak barriques; the winery calls it an important, long-lived, elegant wine.

Tasting notes

Garnet red; enveloping, rich bouquet with violet, cocoa, vanilla and tobacco from the oak ageing; full and persistent on the palate with austere but not bitter tannins.

Planted 1985, 4,400 vines/ha, trellis-trained, Guyot pruned; grape yield 8,000 kg/ha, wine yield 5,200 L/ha
Vinification
Fermented and macerated on skins at least a week at 28-32C in thermo-conditioned steel tanks, then kept on its lees at 20-22C for at least two months to complete malolactic fermentation. Aged about 20 months, partly in new and once-used oak barriques (225 L), and released after at least 4 months further in the cellar.
