Montaribaldi

Montaribaldi

Montaribaldi is a family estate in Barbaresco, farmed by the Taliano family for three generations. Carla and Pino Taliano founded it, and Luciano and Roberto Taliano, the winery's general manager and production director, have run the company since 1994. Vineyards reach beyond Barbaresco into Neive, Treiso, Alba, Monforte d'Alba and Costigliole d'Asti, and the estate bottles single MGA crus such as Pajorè, Rio Sordo, Starderi and Marcarini within Barbaresco, plus Perno in Barolo. The Talianos call their wines Vineyard Wines: each label is tied to one vineyard, made mostly from native varieties, low yields and careful ripening, with restrained use of sulphites rather than organic or biodynamic certification. Alongside Barbaresco and Barolo DOCG, the range covers Barbera, Dolcetto, Roero Arneis and a short line of low-alcohol and sweet wines. Barbaresco itself sits on the right bank of the Tanaro just northeast of Alba, sharing Nebbiolo and DOCG rank with Barolo across the river.
