Cossetti 1891 La Vigna Vecchia

Barbera d'Asti Superiore aged at least a year in large oak barrels and partly in barriques. Also sold in magnum, 3, 6 and 12 litre formats.

Tasting notes

Intense ruby colour that acquires light garnet undertones with ageing. Immediate typicity of Barbera on the nose with a slight spiciness. Pleasantly full and harmonious flavour.

Pairs well with

Traditional starters, white and red meats and medium-aged cheeses.

Vinification
Grapes collected in containers and crushed keeping the fruit as uncontaminated as possible; fermentation in steel vats at 28 to 30°C. Devatting after the sugar has been converted, two rackings, then malolactic fermentation. Aged at least one year in 50 hl oak barrels and partly in second-use barriques, then 6 months in bottle before release.
