Visits & tastings

Guided tours of Cantina di Bussia run Friday through Tuesday, 9am-1pm and 2pm-6pm, by reservation only. The roughly hour-long visit covers the winery's century of history, the Vigna Colonnello vineyard, and the amphitheatre-shaped Bussia vineyard whose grapes produced the first vintage of Barolo Bussia in 1961, finishing in the cellar where the Nebbiolo for these two vineyards ferments and ages in large oak barrels. Tastings offer a choice of 3 or 6 wines, always including Barolo Bussia alongside other prestigious crus from the Langhe, Monferrato or Roero depending on availability (Barbaresco Bric Turot, Barolo Cerretta, Serra or Mosconi, Bansella or Costamiole Nizza, or Nebbiolo Occhetti). Groups are limited to 8-10 people. The wine shop is also open for tastings by the glass and direct sales. Contact: bussia@prunotto.it, tel. +39 342 368 4227. Wines from Prunotto

  • Arveja: Langhe DOC, 40% Sauvignon Blanc, 60% Erbaluce, White. Arveja takes its name from the blackberry briars that grow at the top of this 2-hectare vineyard; its cool, west-facing exposure intensifies Erbaluce's freshness alongside Sauvignon Blanc's gooseberry and green apple…
  • Bansella: Nizza DOCG, Barbera, Red. Bansella comes from the Nizza area, whose characteristic loam-and-sand-veined soils exalt Barbera's aromatics and freshness.
  • Barbaresco: Barbaresco DOCG, Nebbiolo, Red. Prunotto's Barbaresco, produced from vineyards in Treiso and Neive, is an aristocratic yet accessible expression of Nebbiolo, aged in large oak barrels for balance and softness.
  • Barbera d'Alba: Barbera d'Alba DOC, Barbera, Red. A traditional, fresh and easy-drinking Barbera from clay-and-sand vineyards, balanced by short-term oak ageing.
  • Barolo: Barolo DOCG, Nebbiolo, Red. A traditional Barolo, one of Prunotto's historic labels, whose first vintage was produced in 1905 from the best grapes of vineyards in the heart of the Barolo appellation.
  • Bric Turot: Barbaresco DOCG, Nebbiolo, Red. Bric Turot takes its name from the "bricco" (hilltop) shape of the vineyard, whose diversified exposure and specific clonal selection give this Barbaresco its balanced, pleasant character.
  • Bricco Colma: Piemonte DOC, Albarossa, Red. Bricco Colma is made from Albarossa, a 1930s hybrid of Nebbiolo and Barbera created by Professor Dalmasso, grown in Monferrato as part of Prunotto's pioneering spirit.
  • Bussia: Barolo DOCG, Nebbiolo, Red. Barolo Bussia comes from the magnificent amphitheatre-shaped vineyard in Monforte d'Alba, first produced as a single-vineyard wine by Prunotto in 1961.
  • Cerretta: Barolo DOCG, Nebbiolo, Red. Cerretta comes from a historic vineyard in Serralunga d'Alba, first vinified by Prunotto in 2017; varied exposure and traditional large-barrel ageing intensify Nebbiolo's balance and complexity here.
  • Costamiòle: Nizza DOCG Riserva, Barbera, Red. Costamiòle comes from the Agliano Terme area, where Barbera finds one of its most favourable expressions, aged in small oak barrels to preserve its freshness.
  • Dolcetto d'Alba: Dolcetto d'Alba DOC, Dolcetto, Red. A historic Piedmontese wine, aged in steel to bring out Dolcetto's full varietal expression.
  • Fiulot: Barbera D’Asti DOCG, Barbera, Red. "Fiulot" means "young man" in Piemontese dialect; this Barbera is delicate and immediately drinkable, a youthful expression of the grape.
  • Granadié: Langhe DOC, Nebbiolo, Rosé. Granadié is a rosé born on the clay soils, veined with Tortonian-era sand, of the Langhe, surprising for its integration of rose and raspberry aromatics with a fresh, structured palate.
  • Mompertone: Monferrato DOC, Barbera, Syrah, Red. Mompertone comes from the Monferrato area, where limestone-clay soils veined with sand give the wine its round palate and elegant tannins.
  • Moscato d'Asti: Moscato d'Asti DOCG, Moscato Bianco di Canelli, Sparkling. The aromatic Moscato grape has been part of Piedmont's winemaking tradition for generations; low in alcohol and intensely fragrant, this is Prunotto's festive, versatile white.
  • Mosconi: Barolo DOCG, Nebbiolo, Red. Barolo Mosconi comes from a beautiful vineyard in the Mosconi area of Monforte d'Alba, its south-southwest exposure and tuffaceous white soils giving the wine extraordinary complexity.
  • Mosesco: Dolcetto D’Alba DOC, Dolcetto, Red. Mosesco expresses the freshness and finesse that Miocene-era sandy-clay soils bring to Dolcetto.
  • Occhetti: Langhe DOC, Nebbiolo, Red. Occhetti is a historic Prunotto label produced since the 1970s, a pure and elegant expression of Nebbiolo outside the Barolo and Barbaresco zones.
  • Pian Romualdo: Barbera D’Alba DOC, Barbera, Red. Pian Romualdo, first produced in 1961 from Prunotto's vineyards in Monforte d'Alba, is prized for the freshness and ageing potential that day-night temperature swings bring to this Barbera.
  • Secondine: Barbaresco DOCG, Nebbiolo, Red. Secondine is one of the most historic sub-zones of Barbaresco, recognized as such as early as 1879 by Lorenzo Fantini and later mapped by Renato Ratti in 1984.
  • Serra: Barolo DOCG, Nebbiolo, Red. Serra comes from an exceptional vineyard in Serralunga d'Alba, first produced by Prunotto in this vintage in limited quantities from an area historically renowned for Barolo.
  • Vigna Colonnello: Barolo DOCG Riserva, Nebbiolo, Red. Vigna Colonnello comes from a single prized hectare in Monforte d'Alba, uniting the finesse of Tortonian soils with the structure of Serravallian terrain in Prunotto's top single-vineyard Barolo Riserva.
