Monclivio

By Enrico Serafino, Roero, Piemonte, Italy

Enrico Serafino Monclivio

The estate's classic-tier Barolo, blending Nebbiolo from Serralunga d'Alba and La Morra for a style the producer describes as powerfully elegant, shaped by careful vineyard management and oak ageing.

Tasting notes

Intense ruby red with garnet reflections, a broad, intense nose of redcurrant, liquorice, tobacco, spice, coffee and leather, and a complex, full, harmonious and soft palate with dark berry notes, good body, soft tannins and a pleasant finish.

Pairs well with

Game, roasts and aged cheeses, also enjoyed as an aperitif or after dinner.

The wine is then aged about 22 months in medium oak barrels of 2,500 to 4,000 litres.
