Red
Basarin "Vigna Gianmatè"
By F.lli Giacosa, Barbaresco, Piemonte, Italy
Barbaresco from the Gianmate plot on the Basarin hill, whose clay-rich sandstone soil and south/southeast exposure the producer says give it a distinct aromatic complexity from the rest of the hill.
Tasting notes
Ruby red turning garnet red with age, intense yet delicate bouquet of violets, fruit and currant jelly, with added notes of vanilla from the Gianmate plot. Dry, smooth and full-bodied, with austere tannin and considerable persistence on the palate.
Pairs well with
Ideal with roast meats and feathered game.
