Renato Buganza

Renato Buganza

Renato Buganza came to the Roero hills in 1978, settling at the Garbianotto farmhouse where old Barbera, Dolcetto and Nebbiolo vines were already growing. He planted white vineyards and was among the first to bottle Roero Arneis under the new DOC. In 1996 the family bought Cascina Gerbole, with about five hectares of old vines, and his son Emanuele later joined to open the cellar to wider markets. Today the estate farms roughly eight hectares between Roero and Langhe, all certified organic, from Piobesi d'Alba and Guarene to La Morra, where the winery sits and where new plantings began in 2019.

The range covers Roero Arneis, Roero Riserva, Barbera d'Alba Gerbole and Barolo, a metodo classico called Claudette, and the Radici e Filari line of natural wines, among them a red with no added sulphites and an ancestral-method sparkler. La Morra is one of the Barolo communes, while Guarene and Piobesi lie on the Roero side of the Tanaro.
