Poderi Gianni Gagliardo Monforte d'Alba

Barolo del Comune di Monforte d'Alba is a lesser-known Comunale-level Barolo, blended from two vineyards within the commune of Monforte d'Alba with opposite characteristics; first released from the 2020 vintage.

Tasting notes

Dry flowers and leaves, then rose and geranium in the background; dark fruit, sometimes jammy, with brulee notes. Classic, austere and elegant finish with tobacco leaf and dried red fruit, surprisingly smooth tannin, ripe plum and cinnamon.

Pairs well with

Baked rib steak with black pepper and spices (Italy), slow-cooked leg of lamb (UK), Delmonico steak and potatoes with grated cheese (USA), duck a l'orange with pak choy and lemongrass (Asia).
