La Morra
By Poderi Gianni Gagliardo, Barolo, Piemonte, Italy
Barolo del Comune di La Morra is a Comunale-level Barolo made since the 2016 vintage from a specific zone around the winery's own cellar in La Morra, at a lower altitude than the village average, historically known for producing early-expressing, aromatic wines.
Tasting notes
Explosion of redcurrant, mint, licorice and ripe red fruit; dry palate, pleasant tannins and hints of chocolate.
Pairs well with
Pan-seared beef medallions with pomegranate sauce (Italy), herb-roasted boneless pork loin chops with raspberry sauce (USA), deep-fried pork in sweet and sour sauce (Asia).
