Poderi Gianni Gagliardo
Poderi Gianni Gagliardo is a family estate in La Morra, in the Barolo zone. Its roots lie with the Colla family, who have grown vines in Piemonte since the mid-1800s, first around Santo Stefano Belbo and then in Diano d'Alba. In 1961 Paolo Colla bought a farmhouse in La Morra to make Barolo. His daughter Marivanna married Gianni Gagliardo in 1972, and in 1986 the winery took his name. Since 2013 the cellar has bottled single-vineyard Barolos, among them Lazzarito Vigna Preve, Castelletto, Monvigliero and Serra dei Turchi, alongside Roero Arneis, Langhe Favorita and Dolcetto. In 2017 the family bought Tenuta Garetto, ten hectares in Agliano Terme in the Nizza area. Alberto, Stefano and Paolo Gagliardo, the third generation, now work in the business.

Wines from Poderi Gianni Gagliardo
- Castelletto: Barolo DOCG, Nebbiolo, Red. Castelletto is an east-facing Monforte d'Alba cru at the mouth of a narrow, biodiverse valley, giving it a particularly cool microclimate with strong temperature swings; the soil stays damp long after rain, so picking…
- DaBatiè: Langhe Nebbiolo DOC, Nebbiolo, Red. DaBatiè is a Langhe Nebbiolo grown on the notably sandy soils of the Roero, giving it a crisp, savoury profile distinct from Langhe Nebbiolo grown on Barolo or Barbaresco's stronger soils.
- Fallegro: Langhe Favorita DOC, Favorita, White. Fallegro was born in 1974 as one of the estate's first vinifications of Favorita, the Piemontese name for Vermentino; grown far from the sea in a continental climate on sandy Roero soils, it is characteristically fresh…
- Favà: Nizza DOCG, Barbera, Red
- Fossati: Barolo DOCG, Nebbiolo, Red. Fossati is the smallest plot the estate farms, a north-east facing, shady vineyard in the commune of Barolo with a late cycle that is usually the last cru harvested; the shadowy position gives the wine an intriguing…
- Gianni Gagliardo: Barolo DOCG, Nebbiolo, Red. The estate's entry-level Barolo blends fruit from eight parcels in five communes: La Morra, Monforte d'Alba, Barolo, Verduno and Serralunga d'Alba. Each vineyard contributes part of its character, giving an expressive,…
- La Matta: Barbera d'Alba Superiore DOC, Barbera, Red. La Matta comes from a careful selection of grapes from the Casa vineyard in Monticello d'Alba, giving the wine an elegant, dynamic style suited to both immediate drinking and further ageing; it is only produced in the…
- La Morra: Barolo DOCG, Nebbiolo, Red. Barolo del Comune di La Morra is a Comunale-level Barolo made since the 2016 vintage from a specific zone around the winery's own cellar in La Morra, at a lower altitude than the village average, historically known for…
- Lazzarito: Barolo DOCG, Nebbiolo, Red. Lazzarito Vigna Preve is a monopole bottling from a small, energetic vineyard within the Lazzarito MGA in Serralunga d'Alba, among the first to bud and the last to be harvested; the mass selection of the estate's own…
- Monforte d'Alba: Barolo DOCG, Nebbiolo, Red. Barolo del Comune di Monforte d'Alba is a lesser-known Comunale-level Barolo, blended from two vineyards within the commune of Monforte d'Alba with opposite characteristics; first released from the 2020 vintage.
- Monvigliero: Barolo DOCG, Nebbiolo, Red. Monvigliero is considered one of the best MGAs in Barolo, an amphitheatre-shaped, south-facing cru in Verduno with loose soils near the Tanaro river; it is protected from excessive sun and consistently in impeccable…
- Mosconi: Barolo DOCG, Nebbiolo, Red. Mosconi is a Monforte d'Alba cru split between a warm, calcareous, low-vigor south-facing half and a more vigorous east-facing half bordering a forest, giving velvety wines with fine tannins; the two parts are often…
- Paulin: Dolcetto d'Alba DOC, Dolcetto, Red. Paulin is dedicated to founder Paolo Colla, a great lover of Dolcetto, and is aged in stainless steel for about a year before bottling.
- Roero Arneis: Roero Arneis DOCG, Arneis, White. Roero Arneis is made from 100% Arneis from the Roero area, pressed gently and fermented cool with no malolactic fermentation to preserve freshness, then aged sur lie for about five months.
- San Ponzio: Nebbiolo d'Alba Superiore DOC, Nebbiolo, Red. San Ponzio is sourced from the San Ponzio hill in the commune of Monticello d'Alba, in the Roero, where sandy-calcareous soil that still has good structure gives a wine that is powerful yet gentle in character.
- Serra dei Turchi: Barolo DOCG, Nebbiolo, Red. Serra dei Turchi is the winery's founding Barolo plot, purchased by founder Paolo Colla in 1961 in the commune of La Morra, marking the family's entry into Barolo. It is made from two contiguous but distinct parcels,…
