Fossati
By Poderi Gianni Gagliardo, Barolo, Piemonte, Italy
Fossati is the smallest plot the estate farms, a north-east facing, shady vineyard in the commune of Barolo with a late cycle that is usually the last cru harvested; the shadowy position gives the wine an intriguing freshness and balsamic notes.
Tasting notes
Sweet notes of violet, red fruits, mint and licorice, with a round, medium-bodied mouth and sweet, ripe tannins.
Pairs well with
Baked rib steak with black pepper and spices (Italy), slow-cooked leg of lamb (UK), Delmonico steak and potatoes with grated cheese (USA), duck a l'orange with pak choy and lemongrass (Asia).
