Red
Autinbej
By Ca' del Baio, Barbaresco, Piemonte, Italy
A tribute to Giulio Grasso's late father Ernesto, who used the Piemontese word "autinbej" to describe the best vineyard exposures; the wine unites Nebbiolo from several favoured plots in one bottling, in the old style.
Tasting notes
Deep garnet red with reflections of old pink. Intense, fruity aroma of raspberry and jam with violets, sweet spice and cocoa. Warm, long and persistent on the palate, slightly tannic with a fruity aftertaste.
Pairs well with
Traditional Barbaresco pairings of red meat, plus grilled or fried duck and pork, and sweet-and-sour or spicy sauces.
