Fratelli Casetta

Fratelli Casetta

Fratelli Casetta is a family house in Vezza d'Alba, in the Roero hills north-west of Alba, where the Casettas have lived and worked the land since 1725. The vineyards sit on both banks of the Tanaro between 200 and 400 metres: sandy ochre Rocche and Astian marls on the Roero side, blue-grey Miocene marls in the Langhe.

The range is wide. There are two Mumplin Roero Arneis, Barbera, Dolcetto and Nebbiolo d'Alba, plus Barolo from three crus (La Serra and Case Nere in La Morra, Cerviano Merli in Novello), a Riserva and a Barbaresco. Large Slavonian oak does most of the work, with barriques used only in part. In 1990 Ernesto Casetta planted new Pelaverga vineyards at Pagno in the Val Bronda, under Monviso. The estate also follows the Green Experience protocol for integrated, landscape-minded viticulture.
