Barbera Freisa
By G.D. Vajra, Barolo, Piemonte, Italy
A Barbera-Freisa blend that revives an old family recipe: a bottle labelled “Barbera Fresia 70” was once made from a mixed Barbera-and-Freisa vineyard by Aldo's grandfather, Carlo “Carlin” Vaira.
Tasting notes
Vibrant, expressive bouquet of plum, blackberry, violet and dried fig, with a delicate hint of tamarind, lifted by light smoky and graphite nuances. Barbera brings juicy, dynamic fruit on the palate while Freisa contributes structure, spice and a long floral finish.
