Pietra Magica
By Casa E. di Mirafiore, Barolo, Piemonte, Italy
A single wine from the Vigna Magica vineyard, named for two carved anthropomorphic stones found there in the 1980s; matures a year in 2,000-14,000 litre oak barrels plus six months in bottle before release. Sold under six different label editions, each named for one of the vineyard's stones.
Tasting notes
Fascinating ruby red colour with an intense perfume of flowers and small dark fruits, balsamic sensations and light spice. Full-bodied and enveloping on the palate, with silky tannins, good acidity and amazing persistence.
Pairs well with
Warm appetisers, pasta, light meat dishes, fresh or medium-aged cheese.
