Fratelli Aresca
Aresca is a family winery in Mombercelli, in the hills of Asti province halfway between Monferrato and Langhe. Brothers Luigi and Piero Aresca founded it in 1952, the business turned to winemaking in the 1970s, and the second and third generations run it today. The family is known locally by the old nickname Merlò.
The grapes come from the winery's own vineyards, which are still being extended, and from a close network of local growers. The vineyards lie inside the Langhe-Roero and Monferrato UNESCO wine district, with spontaneous grass between the rows, treatments kept to a minimum and hand harvesting. The range is wide: Barbera d'Asti and Nizza, Barolo and Nebbiolo d'Alba, Gavi, Roero Arneis, Grignolino and Dolcetto di Ovada, plus Moscato, Alta Langa and other sparkling wines.
