Barbera del Monferrato Superiore from the 1.5 ha Mepari vineyard planted in 1985, aged in tonneau and barriques.

Tasting notes

Very deep ruby, almost impenetrable, with violet hints. Aromas of cocoa, graphite and sweet spices. Full-bodied and velvety, with notable youthfulness and well-judged, unobtrusive oak. Ageing potential 5 to 8 years and beyond.

Pairs well with

Meat dishes, roasts and braises.

Vinification
Traditional fermentation with frequent pump-overs on the skins in steel tanks, 28 to 30 C, 20 to 30 days, no added yeasts, spontaneous malolactic. Aged 6 months in steel, 15 months in tonneau and barriques, 9 months in bottle; bottled 20 months after harvest. 7,500 bottles; also 1.5 L and 3 L.
