Tenuta San Sebastiano

Tenuta San Sebastiano

Tenuta San Sebastiano is the De Alessi family farm at Lu Monferrato in the Alessandria hills, run by Roberto and Fabio De Alessi with oenologist Mario Ronco. The estate works 10 hectares of vines, mostly Barbera, Grignolino, Cortese and Moscato, plus small plots of Pinot Meunier, Chardonnay, Nebbiolo, Pinot Nero, Viognier and Sauvignon, all on calcareous soil between 270 and 280 metres. The range runs from an 18,000-bottle Barbera and a Piemonte Grignolino to Mepari, a Barbera del Monferrato Superiore from vines planted in 1985, and single-vineyard bottlings such as Dalera, Capolinea and Sol Do. There are two sparkling wines, a Metodo Classico Extra Brut and a Charmat Valè, and LV, a sweet barrique-aged wine from dried Moscato and Gewurztraminer. Lu sits on the high ground between Casale Monferrato and Alessandria, in the area covered by the Monferrato UNESCO landscape.
