Freisa d'Asti Superiore
By Tenuta Olim Bauda, Nizza, Piemonte, Italy
A dry, oak-aged Freisa from Isola d'Asti; the family makes it dry, as tradition holds, though Freisa was long sold lively.
Tasting notes
Broad and complex nose: floral, with rose and violet (even withered), raspberries and cherry jam, plus spice, chocolate, cloves, black pepper and nutmeg. Ruby red turning garnet with age. Dry on the palate, with generous tannins softened by bottle ageing.
Pairs well with
Tajarin with game ragu, hazelnut roast or beef braised in wine.
