Starda
By Paitin, Barbaresco, Piemonte, Italy
Starda takes its name from an ancient family of notaries and a small street at the foot of Serraboella. It blends Nebbiolo from the lower, sandier parts of Serraboella and, in recent years, the sandier part of Ca Veja; the Starda name first appeared on a label in 2013 to distinguish it from the Ca Veja bottling.
Tasting notes
The 'Starda' Langhe Nebbiolo exhibits a luminous ruby-garnet, with complex aromas of dried rose petals, tar, and wild berries. On the palate, it is powerful yet graceful, with assertive tannins and a profound, mineral-driven persistence.
