Red
Sorano
By Filippo Gallino, Roero, Piemonte, Italy
A Roero Riserva DOCG Nebbiolo from the estate's best-sited vineyards, first bottled in 2008. Its name recalls "Suran", the local dialect word for the highest, sunniest hill in Canale.
Tasting notes
Pale ruby red with garnet hues that deepen with age. Opulent, spiced aromas of ripe red fruit, balsamic notes, candied fruit, resin, violet, vanilla and fruit preserved in spirit. Dry and full on the palate, with dried rose petal, violet and liquorice, persistent and well-tannic, with a retronasal finish of jam and incense.
Pairs well with
Piedmontese first courses, red meat, furred and feathered game, aged cheeses.
