F.lli Rovero Rouvè

A selection Barbera d'Asti Superiore from the 1967 Vigneto Serra, 24 months in barriques. Rouvè is Piedmontese for Rovero.

Tasting notes

Intense ruby red with complex aromas of red fruit, berries, cassis and strawberries, plus tobacco and smoky notes. Ripe tannins, great volume, excellent structure and complexity.

Pairs well with

Lamb cutlets, succulent roasts, game, pork, steaks, and cheeses such as blue cheeses, fontina and gruyere.

Vineyard planting
A small single Barbera vineyard, Vigneto Serra, planted in 1967 in Valle Terpone.
Vinification
Selected, crushed grapes ferment in stainless steel at 28-30 C with 21 days of maceration. Malolactic fermentation is spontaneous in tank, with 20% in barriques. The wine matures in European oak barriques for at least 24 months, then rests in the cellar after bottling. Ageing potential 10 to 12 years.
