Vigna della Madre
By Ettore Germano, Barolo, Piemonte, Italy
Vigna della Madre is the estate's Barbera d'Alba Superiore, from 20-year-old vines on clay and limestone facing east, aged about a year in medium sized wood casks and at least 6 months more before release.
Tasting notes
Intense ruby red with garnet reflections, it shows ripe fruit and forest floor aromas on the nose, enriched by delicate vanilla notes. On the palate the entry is full and austere; light acidity gives freshness and carries a persistent finish that echoes the same aromas.
Pairs well with
Excellent with cured meats, pasta dishes, and meat dishes. Also pairs well with medium-aged cheese.
