Ettore Germano Hérzu

Hérzu is Ettore Germano's Riesling Renano, off dry with about 5 to 6 grams of residual sugar, from 15-year-old vines on stony, calcareous soil in Cigliè.

Tasting notes

The wine has a straw yellow colour with greenish reflections. On the nose it is fruity and finely tropical when young, with vegetal hints that, with age, give way to marked minerality and the petrol notes typical of the variety. On the palate the entry is full, savoury and fruity, supported by lively freshness and a persistence that lasts long through the tasting.

Vinification
Alcoholic fermentation takes place in upright steel tanks at around 16°C, then the temperature is lowered further to prevent malolactic fermentation. The wine is bottled at the end of spring. The low fermentation temperature causes the yeasts to stop working, leaving a residual sugar of about 5 to 6 grams per litre, which helps express the Riesling variety.
