Calliope

By Cieck, Canavese, Piemonte, Italy

Cieck Calliope

Calliope is Cieck's reserve sparkling wine, created in the mid-1990s after Remo Falconieri saw Champagne houses use wood to lend elegance to their top cuvees; part of the Erbaluce ferments and rests in small oak barrels before blending.

Tasting notes

Straw yellow with golden highlights; very fine, persistent bubbles; fresh, intense bouquet of golden delicious apple and vanilla, reminiscent of pineapple and wildflowers; full, harmonious palate with good acidic vigour and long yeast and crusty-bread sensations

Pairs well with

Excellent as an aperitif and through a full meal, with strongly flavoured mature cheeses, elaborate fish dishes and rich sauces
