Monferrato Dolcetto
By Boeri Vini, Asti, Piemonte, Italy
A Dolcetto from a grape native to Piedmont; the name comes from the dialect word 'dosset', soft and gentle. About 7,000 bottles a year at 12.5% vol, suggested cellaring of 2 to 4 years.
Tasting notes
Ruby red with violet reflections, tending brownish with age. Winy scent with red fruit and flowers, pronounced cherry. Dry, soft and harmonious with a slightly almondy finish. Aromatic notes: strawberry, blackberry, rose.
Pairs well with
Any part of the meal, especially cold cuts and hams, antipasti, first courses, fresh or medium-aged cheeses: bagna cauda, cotechino with lentils.
