Barbera d'Asti
By Boeri Vini, Asti, Piemonte, Italy
The everyday Barbera, in the producer's words a staple of the family table, best drunk young. About 30,000 bottles a year at 13% vol, suggested cellaring of 3 to 5 years.
Tasting notes
Intense ruby red, turning brownish with age. Intense young bouquet with pronounced spice. Pronounced cherry and plum, with marmalade notes as it ages. Aromatic notes: plum, cherry, pepper, leather.
Pairs well with
Daily meals and many Piedmontese dishes: meat carpaccio, roast chicken, legume soup, anolini in broth.
