Pörlapà
By Boeri Vini, Asti, Piemonte, Italy
Boeri's flagship Barbera d'Asti Superiore, the family's first wine under their own label, from the oldest vineyard, planted in 1936. About 10,000 to 12,000 bottles a year at 14.5% vol, with a suggested cellaring of 15 to 20 years.
Tasting notes
Blackish, impenetrable colour. Roasted, tarry, chocolate-like nose with ripe black fruit. Ample, elegant structure, fresh and vigorous, with fruit and oak well fused. Aromatic notes: stewed fruit, cherry, violet, mint.
Pairs well with
Big occasions, red meat or game, like Barolo: Italian pot roast, agnolotti in roast meat sauce, lamb chops, duck fillet.
