By Pierfrancesco Gatto, Monferrato, Piemonte, Italy
Gatto's Barbera d'Asti Superiore DOCG, aged 20 months in 500-litre tonneaux, with about 3,500 bottles produced.
Tasting notes
Intense red with violet highlights that turn garnet with age. A persistent, wine-forward bouquet of cherry, plum and dark berries evolving into jam and spirit-soaked fruit, wrapped in notes of cinnamon, vanilla and liquorice. Full, warm and harmonious on the palate.
Pairs well with
Meat dishes, roasts and aged cheeses.
