Piani
By Pelissero, Barbaresco, Piemonte, Italy
Barbera from the gentler Piani slope, produced since 1960, when it was called Ronchi; the name changed to Piani in 1990.
Tasting notes
Brilliant, intense ruby. Fine aromas of blackberry and stewed plum, then winey notes typical of Barbera, with a measured touch of wood. Savoury and acidic, with good breadth and a persistent finish.
