Red
Pinòtu
By Generaj, Roero, Piemonte, Italy
Nebbiolo d’Alba dedicated to Pinòtu, a traditional, characterful nebbiolo; the label reproduces, in braille, verses the General once wrote in a toast to the family’s village. 13.5 to 14% ABV.
Tasting notes
Dense garnet colour. On the nose, wide and intense, with notes of violet, yellow peach, cherry and hints of pepper, tobacco and mint. On the palate, ample and soft; firm structure balances controlled acidity and alcoholic power, letting the fruit open gradually in full correspondence between aroma and taste, dominated by red fruit. Long, persistent finish with sweet, fine-grained tannins.
Pairs well with
Rich first and second courses, braised meats, roasts, medium-aged cheeses.
