Sweet
La Vija
By Generaj, Roero, Piemonte, Italy
A wine from semi-dried Bragat Rosa grapes, hand-picked and left to dry naturally for two months before fermenting; the name, ‘ande’ a vijé’ in dialect, means visiting loved ones bearing gifts. 16.5 to 17% ABV.
Tasting notes
Pale garnet colour with orange reflections. On the nose, wide and intense with rose, chocolate and spice. On the palate, ample and soft; the wine’s structure balances acidity and alcoholic power, letting the fruit open gradually in full correspondence between aroma and taste, dominated by the variety’s typical notes. Long, persistent finish.
Pairs well with
Asian cuisine, medium and long-aged and blue-veined cheeses, chocolate-based desserts.
