Matteo Correggia
Matteo Correggia is a family estate in Canale d'Alba, in the Roero hills of southern Piemonte, where deep sandy soils suit Nebbiolo and Arneis alike. Matteo Correggia founded the property and pushed it toward organic farming; today his widow Ornella Costa Correggia runs it with their children Giovanni and Brigitta and longtime winemaker Luca Rostagno, farming twenty hectares organically.
The range spans Roero Arneis and Roero Nebbiolo through to single-vineyard Riservas from the Ròche d'Ampsèj and La Val dei Preti crus, a Barbera d'Alba from the Marun vineyard, Langhe Sauvignon, the aromatic red Anthos, a Bordeaux blend called Le Marne Grigie, an amphora-aged Nebbiolo named Apapà, and Severina, a pair of Alta Langa sparkling wines. Since the late 2000s the estate has bottled much of its output under screw cap rather than cork, protecting freshness and cutting sulphur levels.
Canale d'Alba lies north of the Tanaro, in the sandy Roero hills facing the Langhe.
