Fratelli Savigliano
Fratelli Savigliano is a family winery in Valle Talloria, a hamlet of Diano d'Alba in the Bassa Langa. The family has worked wine here since the second half of the 1700s, and brothers Dario and Giuseppe Savigliano made it their main business in the early 1900s. Today their sons, the cousins Marino and Stefano, who both trained in oenology, run it.
The estate owns 20 hectares: 16 in vines and 4 in hazelnut groves, spread over Diano d'Alba, La Morra, Treiso and Montelupo. Diano d'Alba, with its calcareous soils, supplies most of the fruit, including four separate Dolcetto bottlings. La Morra gives the single-vineyard Barolo Boiolo, with a Riserva aged five years in oak. The range also covers Barbera, Nebbiolo, Grignolino, Moscato d'Asti, Chardonnay, Favorita and a rosato.
Diano d'Alba sits a few kilometres south-west of Alba and is the home of its own Dolcetto DOCG.
