La Bollina
La Bollina is a wine estate in Serravalle Scrivia, in the hills of the Alto Monferrato and within the Gavi DOCG area. The property covers more than 120 hectares of gentle slopes, vineyards and chestnut woods, and was for a century the residence of noble Genoese families, the Figari marquises among them. The winery farms 33 hectares. White varieties grow around the cellar on marl and clay soils facing south-west, while the red varieties sit on red earth on the hills near Novi Ligure, mostly facing south. The cellar has been renovated under oenologist Andrea Bernardini, with temperature control and micro-oxygenation. The range centres on Gavi, alongside Chardonnay, Barbera, Nebbiolo, Moscato and an Alta Langa Blanc de Blancs, several of them dressed in vintage bicycle labels that nod to Coppi and Girardengo.
