Red
Cascina Nuova
By Mauro Veglio, Barolo, Piemonte, Italy
A riper, more concentrated Barbera from old vines and low yields on the Cascina Nuova hill, the estate's home site, aged longer in wood; the estate describes it as 'a Barbera with the substance of a Barolo.'
Tasting notes
Intense, almost opaque ruby red. Ample, immediate aromas of plum jam and elderflower, with a lightly spicy finish and hints of candied fruit. Powerful and vigorous on the palate, with excellent balance between concentration and acidity, and persistence and minerality from the age of the vines and the unique soil. Enjoyable immediately, with the potential to age well for years.
