By Francesco Sobrero, Barolo, Piemonte, Italy

Francesco Sobrero Ciabot Tanasio

Barolo DOCG blended from the Valentino, Piantà and Pernanno vineyards in Castiglione Falletto, the estate's founding label, first bottled in 1964 and named for the Sobrero family's 'Ciabot Tanasio'.

Tasting notes

Bright, lively, luminous ruby. Intensely varietal, warm, mature aromas, with wild notes, undergrowth and spice to the fore, hints of leather and spice, plum in spirit, liquorice, cocoa. Firm tannic structure on the palate with good fruit development, tannins that will soften with bottle age. Good length and persistence, with noticeable acidity and lively, juicy fruit.

Pairs well with

Beef braised in Barolo, red meat and game, stuffed guinea fowl, first courses with meat and mushrooms.
