Red
Notturno
By Cascina Gilli, Monferrato, Piemonte, Italy
Notturno is Cascina Gilli's Albugnano DOC Superiore, a pure Nebbiolo from the estate's highest Schierano hillside plots, aged in French oak barriques.
Tasting notes
Garnet in colour. Fragrant raspberry and pomegranate notes underpinned by rose, violet and carnation along with eucalyptus and wet stone, plus secondary notes of vanilla, cloves, coconut and tobacco. Taut on the palate, with vibrant acidity and firm tannins that highlight the wet-stone character, a long finish with fruity and spicy notes.
Pairs well with
Rich sauces such as ragout or truffle dishes, Italian filled pasta, red meat and game.
