Red
Can Jek
By Cantina San Matteo, Gavi, Piemonte, Italy
Barbera d'Alba DOC named Can Jek, 100% Barbera from Diano d'Alba, 14% ABV.
Tasting notes
Still, light ruby red with a garnet hue. Complex, fine fruity nose of wild berries, plum and sour cherry with subtle spice. Enveloping and full-bodied without excess, elegant and intense, with Barbera's good acid backbone and a balanced, persistent finish. Good ageing potential.
Pairs well with
The whole meal with Piedmontese dishes: red meat first and second courses, grilled meats, ragu, strong-flavoured cured meats, medium-aged cheeses. Peppers with bagna caoda.
