Giuseppe Mascarello e Figlio

Giuseppe Mascarello e Figlio

Giuseppe Mascarello e Figlio is a four-generation Langhe family estate, begun in 1881 in Monforte d'Alba and run today by Mauro Mascarello. The winery has stood since 1919 in an 18th-century former ice store at Monchiero, in the Tanaro valley between Barolo, Monforte and Dogliani. About 15 hectares lie inside the Barolo zone, mostly in Castiglione Falletto, where the family is the only producer of Barolo from the Monprivato vineyard, plus Villero, Bricco, Codana and Toetto, and in Perno, on the Santo Stefano hill of Monforte d'Alba. Each vineyard is vinified separately and the Barolos age in large Slavonian oak casks. Alongside Barolo and a Riserva from an old Michet clone of Nebbiolo, the cellar bottles Barbera d'Alba, Dolcetto d'Alba, Freisa and Langhe Nebbiolo. Castiglione Falletto is one of the communes of the Barolo DOCG zone.
