Cascina Cà Nova

Cascina Cà Nova

Cascina Cà Nova is a family estate on the hills above Bogogno, in Novara's Alto Piemonte. Father and daughter Vittorio and Giada Codecasa restored an old farmhouse and planted the first vines in 1996; Vittorio passed away in 2018, and Giada now carries the project forward. The estate farms about 9 hectares, split between vines around the farmhouse in Bogogno and a second block at Romagnano Sesia, and produces around 45,000 bottles a year across nine wines: Nebbiolo based reds crowned by Ghemme DOCG and its Riserva, the single vineyard San Quirico, plus Vespolina, Erbaluce and metodo classico sparkling wines. Farming avoids chemical weedkillers, favours micronutrient feeding and green manuring, and relies mainly on copper based treatments. Ghemme DOCG is one of Alto Piemonte's Nebbiolo appellations, alongside Gattinara, set on hills of ancient volcanic and glacial moraine soil left by the Permian era Valsesia supervolcano.
