Antica Cascina dei Conti di Roero
Antica Cascina dei Conti di Roero has been a family estate since 1950, when Daniela's parents bought Cascina Valmenera and began farming its vineyards at Vezza d'Alba. Daniela and her husband Luigi now run the property, working 13.5 hectares spread across Vezza d'Alba, Monteu Roero and Canale, all inside the Roero's UNESCO listed hills. Only native grapes go into the cellar: Nebbiolo and Arneis at DOCG level for Roero and Roero Arneis, plus Barbera and Nebbiolo d'Alba DOC and a Favorita. Since 2009 the estate has also made traditional method sparkling wines. Its oldest parcel, the one hectare Vigna Sant'Anna, was planted with Nebbiolo in 1954 by Daniela's grandfather and is still tended entirely by hand. The estate is certified under the Green Experience sustainability scheme, working without chemical herbicides. The Roero sits across the Tanaro from the Langhe, its sandy soils left behind by a sea that covered the area a few million years ago.

Wines from Antica Cascina dei Conti di Roero
- Barbera d'Alba: Barbera d'Alba DOC, Barbera 100%, Red. Barbera from the Cascina Penna vineyard in Canale, planted in 1997 on a mostly east facing site that keeps the grapes fresh.
- Langhe Favorita: Langhe DOC Favorita, Favorita 100%, White. A varietal Favorita, an old white grape the estate notes arrived in Piemonte along the Via del Sale salt trading route.
- Maria Teresa: Nebbiolo d'Alba DOC, Nebbiolo 100%, Sparkling. A rose Metodo Classico made purely from Nebbiolo, dedicated to Daniela's mother Maria Teresa; the estate's third sparkling wine, first made in 2011 in about 2,000 bottles.
- Nebbiolo d'Alba: Nebbiolo d'Alba DOC, Nebbiolo 100%, Red. Nebbiolo from Cascina Valmenera, the estate's home vineyard, on a south west facing amphitheatre of rows above Vezza d'Alba.
- Roero Arneis: Roero Arneis DOCG, Arneis 100%, White. The estate's benchmark white, 100% Arneis from the sandy soils around Vezza d'Alba, aged in steel to keep its aromatics intact.
- San Giovanni: Metodo Classico Dosage Zéro, Arneis, Sparkling. A pas dose Metodo Classico dedicated to the estate's three grandfathers, all named Giovanni; first made in 2010 in about 2,000 bottles and traditionally previewed on 24 June, the feast of San Giovanni.
- Sru: Roero Arneis DOCG Riserva, Arneis 100%, White. A single vineyard Arneis Riserva from the Sru cru in Canale, aged on its fine lees in steel for a year before release.
- Vigna Sant'Anna: Roero DOCG Riserva, Nebbiolo 100%, Red. The estate's flagship cru, from a one hectare plot planted by Daniela's grandfather in 1954 and still farmed by hand.
