Red
Rodeo
By Cascina Montagnola, Colli Tortonesi, Piemonte, Italy
Cascina Montagnola's Colli Tortonesi Barbera, made in purity from a single vineyard planted in the 1950s and aged 15 months in barrique before further bottle age.
Tasting notes
Deep, intensely bright ruby red. Elegant and complex on the nose, with notes of plum and violet over a base of tobacco and liquorice. Full, long and structured on the palate, with good acidity balancing the notable alcohol.
Pairs well with
Feathered and furred game, grilled meats, long-aged cheeses, dishes in salmì.

- Production area
- From a single estate vineyard in the Montagnola locality, whose naturally low-vigour old vines give exceptionally concentrated bunches.

- Vinification
- After crushing and destemming, the must macerates in steel tanks with frequent, intense pump-overs; after draining and a first racking, the wine completes malolactic fermentation in barriques. It then ages 15 months in barriques, half new and half second-use, followed by a further 12 months in bottle.
