Signore di Bayard
By Antichi Vigneti di Cantalupo, Alto Piemonte, Piemonte, Italy
First vintage 1989, named for Pierre Terrail, Seigneur de Bayard, the legendary knight 'without fear and beyond reproach' who died in 1524 in a battle fought at the foot of the Breclema hill.
Tasting notes
Ruby-garnet red, with an enveloping, intense and persistent bouquet. Alongside wood notes, violet, withered rose, raspberry and spice emerge. Velvety, fine, rightly tannic, austere, with characteristic goudron (tar) notes on the palate.
Pairs well with
Fine-cuisine meat and game dishes. Flavourful cheeses. Serve in large glasses.
