Paolo Poggio

Paolo Poggio

Azienda Agricola Paolo Poggio is a family farm in Brignano Frascata, in the Val Curone hills of the Colli Tortonesi. The Poggios have made wine for four generations, from founder Giuseppe in the early 1900s to Desiderio and now Paolo and his son Matteo, who do every job themselves, from pruning to bottling. Of fifteen hectares owned, about four are vines, mostly Barbera and Timorasso, with smaller plots of Cortese, Croatina and Moscato. The rest is orchard, mainly apples. In the 1990s Paolo helped bring Timorasso back, planting in 1990 with cuttings from a vineyard over a century old. The range includes two Timorasso, Ronchetto and Derthona, the Barberas Campo la Bà and Derio, and the Croatina Prosone. The Colli Tortonesi are the hills around Tortona, in the far south-east of Piemonte.
