Cascina Luisin

Cascina Luisin

Cascina Luisin is a small family estate in the Rabaja area of Barbaresco, run today by Roberto Minuto, whose great-grandfather Luigi Minuto founded the winery in 1913. The family has kept every stage in house since then, from pruning and harvest to cellar work and sales, and traces its winemaking roots in Barbaresco back eight generations. Eight hectares of vineyards, spread across Barbaresco (including the Asili and Rabaja crus), Neive, Serralunga d'Alba, Alba and Rodello, and Vezza d'Alba in the Roero, give an average of 40,000 bottles a year. The range covers the four classic Langhe grapes: Nebbiolo, in Barbaresco, Barolo and Langhe Nebbiolo bottlings, Barbera, Dolcetto and, from the Roero hills, Arneis. Barbaresco sits a few kilometres from Alba on the right bank of the Tanaro, and its Nebbiolo carries DOCG status alongside Barolo, the two most prestigious appellations in Piemonte.
