Cagliero
Cagliero is a family-run estate in the village of Barolo, farming about 6 hectares of hillside vineyards facing south and south-east at roughly 300 metres, on marl and sand soils from the Tertiary period. The property includes its own Ravera and Terlo crus, both used for Barolo DOCG, alongside the traditional Langhe varieties Dolcetto, Barbera, Nebbiolo and Freisa, and a small planting of white grapes: Arneis, Favorita and Sauvignon Blanc. In the cellar, grapes are pressed and begin fermentation in stainless steel, the bigger reds go through their first fermentation in cement vats, and ageing takes place in French Allier and Slavonian oak, from barriques and tonneaux to larger casks. Annual output runs to 45,000-50,000 bottles. Barolo sits at the heart of the Langhe, a UNESCO World Heritage wine landscape in the province of Cuneo.

Wines from Cagliero
- Barbera d'Alba Superiore: Barbera d'Alba DOC Superiore, Barbera 100%, Red. Cagliero's Barbera d'Alba Superiore comes from a 1.5-hectare estate vineyard in Barolo; the Superiore designation reflects heavy bunch thinning and extended ageing in wood.
- Barolo Chinato: Barolo Chinato, Nebbiolo 100% (Barolo DOCG base), Fortified. Barolo Chinato is Cagliero's aromatized wine made from its own Barolo DOCG infused with cinchona bark and other herbs and spices, following the traditional Langa recipe style.
- Barott: Vino Spumante Rosato, Freisa, Nebbiolo, Sparkling. Barott is Cagliero's rose sparkling wine, a dosed blend of Freisa and Nebbiolo made by the Martinotti (Charmat lungo) method.
- Canebbio: Langhe Nebbiolo DOC, Nebbiolo 85-90%, Barbera 10-15%, Red. Canebbio is Cagliero's Langhe Nebbiolo DOC from a 0.8-hectare vineyard in Barolo, lightened with a small addition of Barbera and given a long, traditional ageing in oak.
- Chiamblo: Langhe Rosato DOC, Barbera 100%, Rosé. Chiamblo is Cagliero's Langhe Rosato DOC, made entirely from Barbera grapes grown in the village of Barolo and vinified in white to give a fresh, young rose.
- Euforia: Moscato d'Asti DOCG, Moscato Bianco 100%, Sweet. Euforia is Cagliero's Moscato d'Asti DOCG, a low-alcohol, sweet, lightly sparkling white made entirely from Moscato Bianco grapes.
- Galverno: Langhe Rosso DOC, Dolcetto, Nebbiolo, Red. Galverno is Cagliero's Langhe Rosso DOC from about 1 hectare of estate vineyard, made by contact of fresh Dolcetto with Nebbiolo marc in a ripasso-style process.
- Nonna Marcellina: Dolcetto d'Alba DOC, Dolcetto 100%, Red. Nonna Marcellina is Cagliero's Dolcetto d'Alba DOC, made from grapes grown in a dedicated 1-hectare vineyard on the estate at 320 m above sea level and aged briefly in steel to preserve its fruit character.
- Rabel: Langhe Bianco DOC, Arneis, Favorita, Sauvignon Blanc, White. Rabel is Cagliero's Langhe Bianco DOC, a blend of Arneis, Favorita and Sauvignon Blanc grown on the estate.
- Ravera: Barolo DOCG, Nebbiolo 100% (Lampia and Michet biotypes), Red. Ravera is one of Cagliero's two Barolo DOCG crus, from over 2.5 hectares spanning the Ravera cru in both Barolo and Novello, vinified separately from the estate's Terlo cru.
- Ravera Riserva: Barolo DOCG Riserva, Nebbiolo 100% (Lampia and Michet biotypes), Red. The Ravera Riserva is Cagliero's Riserva bottling of Barolo DOCG from the Ravera cru, held back for additional ageing beyond the standard release.
- Terlo: Barolo DOCG, Nebbiolo 100%, Red. Terlo is the second of Cagliero's two Barolo DOCG crus, on the family's own vineyards in Barolo, vinified separately from the Ravera cru.
