Beccaria Vini
Angelo and Maria Teresa Beccaria left Genoa in the early 1970s to farm vines in Ozzano Monferrato, and in 1972 Angelo and his father Gioanin planted the first vineyard of the new estate, grafting every cutting by hand. The farm passed to their son Davide in 2001, when the cellar was reorganised and about 4 hectares were planted on one of Ozzano's most panoramic hilltops; his sisters Silvia and Laura are part of the business too.
The estate runs to about 60 hectares, with 10 hectares of vines under Davide's direct care on steep, sunny slopes between Ozzano and San Giorgio Monferrato, on acid, calcareous soils. Only local grapes go into the wines: Grignolino, Barbera, Freisa, Nebbiolo, Malvasia and Arneis. The farm is also a regional educational farm. Ozzano lies in the Monferrato Casalese, in the core zone of the UNESCO-listed "infernot" landscape, known for small cellars carved into the local Pietra da Cantoni stone.
