A blend of part of the Barbera from the Vignassa vineyard with Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, first made in 1998. One of the estate's classic wines.
Tasting notes
Vivid, brilliant garnet red. Very complex, intense and enveloping, spiced nose: ripe raspberry, blackberry, plum, cinnamon and black pepper. Warm and tannic on the palate, balanced, sumptuous and very elegant, with good balance between acidity, tannin and alcohol.
Pairs well with
Elaborate meat dishes, roasts and game, strong aged cheeses. Also a wine for contemplation. Piedmontese pairings: potato gnocchi with fassona beef ragu, hare in 'sivè', Toma della Val Maira.
